24 year old Crystal Shay Zeno, from Lake Arthur, LA, had been missing since August 29, 2008. She was last seen at the Sonic Drive Inn in Lake Arthur, LA. Crystal was an employee at the Sonic until May 2008 at which time she began living in Jennings.
On September 11, 2008, around 3 pm, hunters discovered her body on a levee in a wooded area near a dry irrigation canal just south of Jennings, LA. The area is located on LaCour Road just off LA 1126 a couple of miles southeast of Jennings. She had become the 6th of what would eventually be seven mysterious female deaths over a period of three and a half years in Jeff Davis Parish.
Her body was badly decomposed indicating she had been there quite some time. It took nearly two months to identify the body. Her death was ruled a homicide although cause of death and toxicology reports have not been released to the public.
Crystal, who actually went by the name “Shay”, was married and had a young daughter. She also knew many of the other victims including Brittney Gary.
